Sometimes your life's calling sneaks up on you as a youth, sometimes it calls upon you after you have more life experience under your belt. It was a mixture of both for me. Artisanal perfumes were a natural step to take in my creativity. I have studied cultural anthropology as well as dance, and am finding myself at a creative crossroads where I can make the connection more clearly between ritual, consciousness, sensory experience and body knowledge, as it relates to use of aromatics.
Mandrake Apothecary™ is a woman-owned green business. Our name used to be Lobelia Soap Company™, but the name was constricting after a time, and rather limiting in imagery as well as intent. Mandrake Apothecary™ is also a pagan business, touching on botanical and aromatic traditions, while keeping our stewardship of the planet close to the heart and always in mind.

Some practical information on ordering:
We accept the following forms of payment: Paypal, credit card (data collected securely through our shopping cart; your info will NEVER be shared with anyone); check; money order.
Shopping cart: It does not calculate shipping. You will be contacted after your order is received, with an updated total that includes shipping.
Payment: If you've elected to pay via credit card, your card will not be charged until your order is ready to be shipped, after we've contacted you to inform you of the total w/ shipping. If you've elected to pay w/ Paypal, we will invoice you via Paypal, after we've contacted you initially to inform you of your order total w/ shipping. If you are paying w/ check or money order, you will be contacted with the order total w/ shipping, as well as the address to remit your payment to. Shipment will take place once your payment is received, accordingly.

Shipping is via UPS Ground, First Class Mail, or US Priority Mail w/ Delivery Confirmation, whichever is most reasonable/appropriate.
Current order turnaround time for domestic orders is 48 hrs from our receipt of your order to placing your parcel in the care of USPS or UPS. Current order turnaround for non-US orders is 72-96 hrs.
Our returns policy is that we cannot accept returns. The nature of our product line necessitates that rule. Once a bottle of perfume or elixir has been opened, I can no longer guarantee purity for a next would-be customer. Thank you for your understanding. If a product was damaged in transit, or if you received the wrong product, we'll certainly work with you to fix the situation, however! (Our one stipulation for reporting a damaged/incorrect product, however, is that you bring it to our attention within 48 hrs, please, via phone or email).
Catalogs: Until a couple years ago, we offered printed catalogs via snail mail to email and phone inquiries. We had to discontinue this practice in order to contain costs and keep pricing out of the stratosphere. The website is always going to be the most up-to-date resource for what is available. Thank you for helping us spare a few trees!
We only entertain retail orders at this time. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
